Monthly Outing: Papakura Museum – Behind The Scenes

Wednesday, 26 August 2026 @ 10:00 am - 2:00 pm

Join us for a visit to Papakura Museum

Step beyond the exhibition spaces and experience Papakura Museum from a whole new perspective.

A hidden gem in South Auckland, Papakura Museum is highly regarded for its fascinating local history, welcoming atmosphere, and passionate and knowledgeable museum curator, Alan Knowles.

Join us for a special guided behind the scenes tour with Alan, who will share how they preserve, care for and bring local history to life. You’ll gain a fascinating insight into the museum’s collections, discover what happens away from the public galleries, and learn about the work involved in protecting the stories and treasures of our community.

What you can expect from the outing:

  • A guided tour with the Museum Curator
  • Exclusive access to behind-the-scenes areas
  • Discover the history and heritage of the local areas and family connections
  • Explore the current exhibitions at your leisure: What She Wore: 150 years of fashion History, Military Gallery and Before the Drone Age

Whether you enjoy local history, family history, are curious about museums, or simply want to experience something a little different, this promises to be an engaging and memorable outing.

With a cafe on site, we will also enjoy the opportunity for coffee and a catch-up before returning home for 2pm.

The museum has requested a Koha of $5.00 per person for the guided tour. Please bring cash on the day.
